Bring It On: 20th Anniversary Special
Some unforeseen life events have led to an unavoidable hiatus in production and we’ve been forced to delay new story updates for the time being. The provisional return date is looking to be Monday the 12th of October 2020.
The good news is that we did have some material scheduled for this period of time and there’s other things we’ve been able to bring forward. So there’ll actually be more than one update a week for at least the next couple of weeks.
This image is to mark the 20th Anniversary of the release of Bring It On, quite possibly the ultimately cheerleader movie (Roger Ebert did end up describing it as the Citizen Kane of cheerleader movies) and might well be remembered by many for its notable opening sequence. I thought it was a fun film and I’d recommend it, I’m sure I’m not alone in that!
However, there was also a scene where they had to do some fundraising by washing cars and that ties in to the theme not only of this image but also that we’ll be hoping to discuss with you the audience about fundraising ideas going forward as we still do hope to have Exiern break even one day at the very least. On top of the usual means such as the Patreon, we did have a go with Rxiern last year. After all, if we save you money, that could be potentially more financial opportunities to say … help a webcomic you like too?
Even just reading Exiern helps as well, not to mention new readers of course and also we always appreciate any comments. Anyway, we apologise for the delay in moving the story forwards but there will be material to compensate and in other hopefully good news, there’s a large amount of new material we’ve been promising for years which is finally almost here. The same thing is delaying it a little bit longer but we’re talking weeks now at most and not the years ago when we first announced them.
Art for this image is by Sean Harrington of Spying With Lana (of course!) and the next update will be the 23rd of September 2020. Hopefully we’ll see you then!
It’s a shame this is happening, given the story is already quite slow-going, but I also get that creators have their own things to deal with so hey, I understand.
Yes, sorry about this but various different events unexpectedly knocked out a good chunk of the creative team and we had to bring forward just whatever we had on hand planned for future dates including stuff for December.
With any luck there’s also some other projects that were already in the pipeline which we might have ready by the end of the month to help make up for the interruption too.
I liked what I remember of the movie, too. But if Ebert ever described it as the Cutizen Kane of cheerleader movie, it was not in the review he filed on the Chicago Sun-Times website, available through IMDB.
It’s one of those films he later came around on and said so about it sometime after the review.
